Goal: To enable you to safely plan and execute any passage aboard a power yacht capable of worldwide or coastal passagemaking

FIRST MATE COURSE

Goal: To enable you to act as a crew aboard a power yacht capable of worldwide or coastal passagemaking.Your Instructor Captian Ron Miller

  • Basic knot tying

  • Line handling

Items Included: All courses include a Captain, Mate, and  Chef who are your instructors. All gourmet meals, beverages (including wine and beer) are provided. This is a highly individualized and personal attention course with ample time for enjoying the voyage!   Please remember that this is a passage from Seattle to Sitka in the Spring  and its return in the Fall from Petersburg and will focus more on the trip rather than shore time activities or fishing and kayaking as can be experienced best on one week trips in Alaska.  Cruising options in Alaska are less structured due to shorter distances to travel and if you are interested in reserving the boat for a training cruise in Alaska, customized trips can be arranged.  

Available Dates & Locations:   The Opening of the North to Alaska Cruise up the Inside Passage to Alaska (14 days)  - Summer in SE Alaska - Early Fall South down the Inside Passage From Alaska (12 days), or customized in Puget Sound -  Contact us to find out which weeks are available.  We  also book  trips a from Seattle to La Paz  and from La Paz to Seattle as a special training cruise........contact us for information on being involved in the transit and time in Mexico.  Ursa is available for charters in late December to March in La Paz and Loreto area  in 2011-2012.  

Cruise Rates & Instructional Fees:   Call for rates and discussion.  Optimized for crew/client interaction in training, extended to 12 day passage to allow exploration, and priced at $4000 per person.  

Deposit: A deposit of 50% of the total rate is required at the time of booking.

Final Payment: Balance of the total rate is due 60 days prior to sailing.

Gratuities: Gratuities are optional but are customary for the captain and crew. Gratuities normally average 15%.

Boarding: Boarding time is by 8:00 am or earlier on the day of sailing for early morning departures.  Please check with charter coordinator at info@myursamajor.com or 206-310-2309  for more details. 

Cancellation policy: Refunds will be made upon cancellation only if space can be filled with another participant. Full details available on charter agreement.  We recommend you consider trip insurance.
